PetTribute.co ("PetTribute," "we," "us") is operated by a sole proprietor based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website.

What information we collect

Information you provide: When you use our tribute generator, you enter details about your pet (name, personality, memories, breed). This information is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate your tribute. We do not store this information permanently on our servers — it is processed in real time and not saved after your session.

Automatically collected information: Like most websites, we collect basic usage data including your IP address (for rate limiting and security), browser type, pages visited, and time spent on the site. If you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used.

Cookies: We use a cookie consent banner. If you accept cookies, we set analytics cookies via Google Analytics 4. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set. A small cookie records your consent choice so we don't ask again on every visit.

How we use your information

We use the information described above to: generate your pet tribute (the core service), prevent abuse and rate-limit usage, understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it, and comply with legal obligations.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

Anthropic (Claude AI): Powers the tribute generator. Your input is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to data processed by their systems. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models.

Cloudflare: Hosts our website and provides security services. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to infrastructure-level data processing.

Google Analytics 4: If you accept cookies, we use GA4 to understand site usage. Google's privacy policy applies. You can opt out by declining cookies or using a browser extension.

Google AdSense: We may display advertisements provided by Google AdSense. Google's advertising privacy policy applies. You can manage your ad preferences at adssettings.google.com.

Affiliate links

Some pages contain affiliate links to third-party products and services. When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These affiliate partners may set their own cookies. Each partner's privacy policy governs how they handle your data.

Your rights

Data retention

Tribute generator inputs are not stored beyond the immediate API call. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics 4's default retention settings (14 months). Rate limiting data is stored temporarily in server memory and is cleared whenever the server restarts.

Children's privacy

PetTribute is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
